SONNET
In search of love's true bliss and
cadence song
I swam the oceans' stormy waves of pain --
I searched the seas, I braved the endless throng
Of men who want to love me yet again.
They asservate propitious schemes of love,
And want to own me body, mind, and soul.
The loathsome tide that laps the horal cove--
My mind recalls the quondam days of old.
My quest, discordant, grieves me so until
Disheartenment is all I can discern.
No love effectuates my heart-- but still,
The need remains and yet the passions burn.
Primus inter pares*, my princeling came, you see.
And primed the incandescent flame in me
* First Among Equals
